Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership throughout the Intelligent DMS organization and set architectural direction and engineering standards.

• Guide architectural decisions spanning web, mobile, backend services, Microsoft 365 integrations, desktop applications, and AI-driven experiences.

• Establish shared technical patterns, component contracts, data models, permission models, and integration methodologies.

• Oversee complex, cross-team engineering projects from product ideation through architecture, implementation, and production.

• Assess trade-offs involving scalability, security, performance, usability, maintainability, and delivery speed.

• Design and construct cloud-native applications, microservices, integrations, and enterprise-level customer experiences.

• Architect innovative web and mobile applications alongside their supporting backend services.

• Create patterns for integrating AI functionalities such as assistants, summarization, extraction, and intelligent search into document workflows.

• Direct technical design for Microsoft 365 experiences, incorporating Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook integrations.

• Define modernization and migration strategies for existing applications and integrations.

• Promote technical coherence across desktop clients, synchronization, import, browser extensions, mobile applications, and Microsoft 365 integrations.

• Foster alignment among Engineering, Product, Design, Platform, and AI teams.

• Convert vague product opportunities into detailed technical requirements, architecture, and actionable plans.

• Mentor engineers, including Senior and Staff Engineers.

• Drive strategies for testing, quality, security, and reliability.

• Lead design and code review processes for complex initiatives.

• Assist in recruiting and interviewing efforts.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and validate strategies through user and production feedback.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with proven capabilities at the Staff level or higher.

• Established experience in setting architectural and technical direction across various products, systems, or engineering teams.

• Experience leading intricate, cross-team technical initiatives without formal authority, driving alignment among engineering stakeholders.

• Extensive expertise in system design, distributed systems, cloud applications, microservices, and enterprise-scale integrations.

• Strong full-stack engineering experience across both frontend and backend systems; technology stack includes C#, .NET, React, and TypeScript.

• Experience in designing and managing cloud-native systems using AWS, Azure, or similar cloud technologies.

• Proficient in translating ambiguous product requirements into precise technical architecture and implementation plans.

• Demonstrated success in mentoring senior engineers and providing technical guidance across teams.

• Excellent technical writing skills with experience in creating architecture documents, design proposals, and technical decision records.
