Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement Humana's strategy, roadmap, and adoption plans for enterprise Quality Engineering tools.

• Set standards, governance models, operating procedures, and best practices for testing and automation tools.

• Assess, recommend, and support quality engineering solutions across the enterprise.

• Lead proof-of-concepts, pilots, and evaluations of emerging technologies in testing, automation, AI, and DevOps.

• Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for QE tools, test management platforms, automation solutions, and best practices.

• Provide technical leadership and operational support for tools such as Azure DevOps, qTest, Tricentis Tosca, Selenium, Playwright, AI-enabled testing platforms, and similar tools.

• Oversee onboarding processes for application, development, and QE teams.

• Create onboarding frameworks, implementation guides, training materials, knowledge bases, standards, and self-service support resources.

• Assist with tool configuration, administration, integrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ensuring operational readiness.

• Establish comprehensive integration patterns across test management, requirements, automation, defect management, CI/CD, release management, and reporting platforms.

• Facilitate traceability across requirements, user stories, test cases, automation assets, defects, releases, and production results.

• Collaborate with vendor partners and internal platform teams on enhancements, roadmaps, and optimization efforts.

• Drive ongoing improvements in adoption, user experience, platform stability, governance compliance, and operational efficiency.

• Mentor Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, SDETs, and delivery teams.

• Assess and implement AI-driven testing capabilities, including test generation, intelligent test maintenance, risk-based testing, self-healing automation, and predictive quality analytics.

• Establish governance standards for AI-assisted testing and automation.

• Offer technical consulting and guidance to Quality Engineering and application delivery teams.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, product teams, and platform organizations.

• Evaluate tool usage, process maturity, and challenges related to adoption.

• Support initiatives for quality engineering modernization, DevOps, test management, automation, and AI transformation.

• Facilitate the integration of QE tools within DevOps, CI/CD, and continuous testing operating models.

• Enable automated quality gates, validations for release readiness, and testing workflows.

• Partner with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and application teams to enhance integrations and automation workflows.

• Advocate for engineering excellence through standardized adoption, automation enablement, process optimization, and continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• More than 12 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Test Management, Automation Engineering, SDET, or Software Engineering.

• Over 8 years of hands-on experience with implementation, support, administration, or enabling of enterprise testing and automation tools.

• Extensive expertise in Azure DevOps (ADO), qTest, Tricentis Tosca, Selenium, Playwright, API Testing and Automation Tools, and CI/CD Platforms.

• Experience with tool integrations across test management, automation, requirements, release management, and DevOps ecosystems.

• Strong knowledge of Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Delivery practices.

• Proven experience leading onboarding, enablement, training, adoption, and support initiatives for enterprise engineering tools.

• Exceptional communication, leadership, consulting, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Minimum internet download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps for home use.
