Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +7 more states.

📋 Description

• Define and implement Humana's strategy, roadmap, and plans for enterprise Quality Engineering tools.

• Establish standards, governance frameworks, operating procedures, and best practices for enterprise testing and automation tools.

• Assess, recommend, and provide support for quality engineering solutions across the enterprise.

• Lead proof-of-concept initiatives, pilot projects, and evaluations of emerging technologies in testing, automation, AI, and DevOps.

• Act as the enterprise subject matter expert for QE tools, test management platforms, automation solutions, and quality engineering methodologies.

• Offer technical leadership and operational assistance for Azure DevOps, qTest, Tricentis Tosca, Selenium, Playwright, AI-enabled testing platforms, and related technologies.

• Oversee onboarding processes for application, development, and QE teams.

• Create onboarding frameworks, implementation guides, training resources, knowledge bases, standards, and self-service support tools.

• Assist with tool configuration, administration, integrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ensuring operational readiness.

• Develop integration patterns across test management, requirements, automation, defect management, CI/CD, release management, and reporting platforms.

• Facilitate end-to-end traceability among requirements, user stories, test cases, automation assets, defects, releases, and production results.

• Collaborate with vendor partners and internal platform teams to enhance tools, develop roadmaps, and optimize usage.

• Promote continuous improvement in tool adoption, user experience, platform stability, governance adherence, and operational efficiency.

• Mentor Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, SDETs, and delivery teams.

• Assess and implement AI-enabled testing capabilities, such as test generation, intelligent test maintenance, risk-based testing, self-healing automation, and predictive quality analytics.

• Provide technical consulting and guidance to Quality Engineering and application delivery teams.

• Support initiatives for quality engineering modernization, DevOps, test management, automation, and AI implementation.

• Integrate enterprise QE tools within DevOps, CI/CD, and continuous testing operational models.

• Establish automated quality gates, release readiness validations, and testing workflows throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Collaborate with DevOps, Platform Engineering, and application teams to enhance integrations, automation workflows, and execution environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Over 12 years of experience in Quality Engineering, Test Management, Automation Engineering, SDET, or Software Engineering.

• At least 8 years of hands-on experience in implementing, supporting, administering, or enabling enterprise testing and automation tools.

• Extensive expertise with Azure DevOps (ADO), qTest, Tricentis Tosca, Selenium, Playwright, API Testing and Automation Tools, and CI/CD Platforms.

• Proven experience in supporting tool integrations across test management, automation, requirements, release management, and DevOps ecosystems.

• Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Delivery methodologies.

• Experience leading onboarding, enablement, training, adoption, and support initiatives for enterprise engineering tools.

• Excellent communication, leadership, consulting, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.

• Self-provided internet service with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed.

• Capability to work from a dedicated space free from ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI/HIPAA information.
