Principal Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage secure, scalable, cloud-native applications on AWS.

• Oversee the complete architecture, design, and delivery process for full-stack applications and platform components.

• Execute, prototype, perform code reviews, troubleshoot, and validate design implementations.

• Create secure, scalable APIs, microservices, event-driven workflows, and responsive user interfaces.

• Conceptualize and implement AI-enhanced and agentic capabilities, including retrieval-augmented generation, tool invocation, workflow orchestration, context management, evaluation, and guardrails.

• Integrate applications with Genesys platforms and client enterprise systems utilizing APIs, SDKs, middleware, data pipelines, and event streams.

• Establish and uphold engineering standards pertaining to code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, performance, documentation, and operational readiness.

• Develop reusable libraries, components, prompts, templates, accelerators, and reference patterns.

• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools and coding agents to expedite implementation, testing, refactoring, documentation, and root-cause analysis.

• Collaborate with product, consulting, delivery, and customer stakeholders on scalable technical solutions and implementation strategies.

• Diagnose production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable fixes and telemetry enhancements.

• Shape AI-enabled functionalities such as intelligent assistants, search, summarization, recommendations, workflow automation, and agentic user experiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software engineering focused on building commercial applications.

• Proven experience leading the technical direction for complex systems at the senior, staff, or principal level.

• Strong hands-on expertise in full-stack development with React, TypeScript or JavaScript, and Node.js.

• Proficient in Python, Java, or a similar backend programming language.

• Experience in designing and implementing distributed systems, REST or GraphQL APIs, microservices, asynchronous services, and cloud-native architectures.

• Practical experience with large language models (LLMs), including tool calling, structured outputs, retrieval/RAG, and evaluations.

• Familiarity with agentic patterns, including multi-step reasoning, autonomous tool use, and structured planning.

• Working knowledge of AWS.

• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, secure coding practices, release engineering, and production observability.

• Experience integrating with enterprise systems and data sources, including real-time and event-driven patterns.

• Recent hands-on experience in building and deploying GenAI, LLM, or agentic applications in production enterprise settings.

• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, prompt and workflow design, tool usage or function calling, agent orchestration, evaluation, and guardrail patterns.

• Understanding of enterprise AI requirements such as observability, auditability, tenant isolation, RBAC, privacy, safety, and responsible usage.

• Experience in integrating model or AI services via Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar platforms and APIs.

• Familiarity with modern AI application frameworks or protocols such as LangGraph, LangChain, Semantic Kernel, MCP, or A2A.

• Practical experience utilizing AI coding assistants or coding agents with disciplined human review processes.

• Ability to assess AI solutions for accuracy, latency, cost, reliability, maintainability, and measurable business value.

• Strong communication skills for clear interactions with engineers, architects, delivery leaders, and customer stakeholders.

• Proven success in customer-facing or consulting-oriented delivery environments.

• Experience in customer service, contact center, or CX domains is preferred.

• Familiarity with integrating Genesys technologies, APIs, and SDKs is preferred.

• Experience in developing real-time analytics or streaming applications is preferred.

• Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills are preferred.

• Experience with database performance tuning and optimization is preferred.
