This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of complete vertical slices of cross-team or platform-level initiatives, which include multi-quarter migrations, deprecations, and architectural shifts.
• Establish the technical standards for designs, recognize architectural deviations, and cultivate engineering practices.
• Discover and assess platform-level opportunities, driving decisions based on evidence, alternatives, and tradeoffs.
• Define Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and enhance observability while sharing on-call responsibilities.
• Lead the rearchitecture of legacy systems or areas with significant technical debt through migration and deprecation strategies.
• Promote the adoption of agentic AI-assisted development via internal tools, workflows, and standards.
• Engage with customers and partners directly during incidents, design reviews, and major deployments.
• Mentor Senior Engineers through code reviews, collaborative design, and direct coaching.
• Influence engineering practices across various teams through written guidance, practical examples, and active involvement in challenging problems.
• Proven experience managing multiple cross-team or platform-level projects from ambiguity to long-term operations.
• Strong technical foundation in distributed systems, data infrastructure, and service architecture.
• Capability to manage complex systems from design to deployment and long-term operation, including observability, on-call duties, migration paths, and deprecations.
• Proven track record of identifying and pursuing non-obvious technical investments.
• Demonstrated expertise in agentic AI-assisted development, agentic coding tools, context-engineered environments, and AI-enhanced workflows.
• Experience in building, shipping, or significantly influencing AI-native tools, custom agents, or team practices.
• History of mentoring and coaching Senior Engineers to enhance their judgment and impact.
• Strong orientation towards customer and product needs.
• Effective written communication skills through design documents, reviews, and post-release reports.
• Demonstrated ability to influence across team boundaries through technical credibility.
• Preferred: experience in defining organization-wide AI adoption strategies.
• Preferred: background in healthcare technology, HIPAA-regulated environments, or other regulated data domains.
• Preferred: experience in incubating new product directions or developing greenfield platform capabilities.
• Preferred: a speaking, writing, or open-source presence that showcases broader technical influence.
• Familiarity with lakehouse architecture and open table formats.
• Knowledge of technologies such as Apache Spark, dbt, Kafka, Cassandra/Scylla, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, AWS, TypeScript/Node, Python, Go, and Java/Kotlin.
