Principal Software Development Engineer in Test, Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with engineering teams to determine testing strategies for proposed modifications.

• Design and sustain automated testing frameworks and pipelines, encompassing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Develop and update test plans and cases for compute services, addressing relevant scenarios and edge cases.

• Write and maintain scripts that facilitate automated deployments, migrations, and rollbacks.

• Investigate and resolve complex issues, pinpoint root causes, and suggest actionable solutions.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

• Advocate for best practices and ensure adherence to quality standards.

• Create automation solutions for testing cloud microservices.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12 years of pertinent experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Proficient in Python and Pytest.

• Strong understanding of contemporary testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with Perl and Golang.

• Experience in debugging across various environments and recreating failing tests locally on x86 and ARM, whether native or emulated.

• Knowledge of Debian packaging.

• Understanding of QEMU's TCG compared to KVM acceleration.

• Expertise in cloud-native infrastructure.

• Comprehension of system internals and performance metrics.

• Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack.

• Solid Linux fundamentals, particularly in performance tuning.

• Proficient in Bash and scripting basics.

• Familiarity with modern software development life cycle processes.

• Understanding of service-level objective monitoring and alerting.
