Principal Software Development Engineer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide support to five engineering teams and collaborate with partners in Product and Data Science on both technical and strategic issues.

• Act as the main technical steward for the Post-Connect backend domain.

• Establish and lead the long-term technical strategy and architecture for backend platforms and services.

• Direct the design and implementation of high-throughput, low-latency APIs, data and event pipelines, as well as platform capabilities.

• Address complex technical challenges and make impactful design choices.

• Develop prototypes for tools, patterns, and processes to mitigate risks associated with ambiguous initiatives.

• Collaborate with product, data, and machine learning leaders to convert business objectives into technical roadmaps.

• Mentor and guide senior engineers and technical leads.

• Shape platform and data governance, security, and compliance practices.

• Promote the use of modern backend technologies, tools, and workflows.

• Enhance reliability, performance, testing, incident response, operational excellence, developer experience, delivery speed, and quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience in designing, building, and operating back-end or distributed systems in production settings.

• Proven experience in leading large-scale, highly available, and high-volume services or platforms, preferably within AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership across teams or domains, including setting architectural direction, influencing roadmaps, and driving complex initiatives from conception to production.

• Experience with scalable, secure, observable, and cost-effective cloud-native systems.

• Proficient in high-throughput, low-latency APIs, data and event pipelines, and platform capabilities.

• Familiarity with platform and data governance, security, and compliance practices.
