Principal Software Developer, Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop cloud-based collaboration features across Autodesk design software.

• Engage in hands-on coding to create scalable backend services and infrastructure.

• Guide and support fellow developers, promoting ongoing learning and development.

• Create and uphold dependable, secure, high-performance cloud services.

• Ensure code quality through automated deployments, unit and integration testing, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Document and effectively communicate technical solutions.

• Meet team commitments within established deadlines.

• Take part in on-call rotations for production systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of software development experience in creating enterprise-level cloud services.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Proficient in constructing cloud services using Java for backend development.

• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, serverless computing, microservices, infrastructure as code, GitOps, and AWS best practices.

• Practical experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and SNS.

• Familiarity with security principles, authentication, and authorization protocols.

• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, ORM frameworks, and caching techniques.

• Background in designing and working with distributed systems and RESTful APIs, including integration with both internal and external team APIs.

• Skilled in monitoring backend performance and implementing enhancements for scalability, response times, and resource efficiency.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

• Preferred: substantial hands-on experience with AI-driven development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and VSCode Copilot.

• Preferred: knowledge of spec-driven development and agentic coding tools.
