Principal Site Investigation & Remediation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Provide entrepreneurial leadership in enhancing the firm's Site Investigation and Remediation practice across California.

• Achieve annual net revenue of over $750,000 through client development, project pursuits, and strategic business initiatives.

• Cultivate and sustain client relationships throughout California while securing new business opportunities.

• Broaden the firm's client portfolio through networking, marketing, relationship cultivation, and active industry participation.

• Lead the development of proposals, conduct client interviews, drive strategic pursuits, and manage contract negotiations.

• Direct and oversee environmental site investigation and remediation projects from initial planning stages to regulatory closure.

• Provide senior-level technical expertise in designing investigations, evaluating remedial alternatives, executing corrective actions, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Offer technical leadership on projects concerning groundwater, soil, soil vapor, and sediment contamination.

• Mentor, develop, and support technical staff across the organization.

• Supervise technical reports, work plans, remedial design, risk assessments, and regulatory submissions.

• Represent the firm in industry organizations, conferences, professional associations, and strategic forums.

• Collaborate with practice leaders to identify cross-disciplinary opportunities and enhance the consulting platform.

• Travel periodically throughout California for client meetings, project oversight, business development, and industry activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 20 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental consulting, site investigation, and remediation.

• A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field is required.

• Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or other relevant professional registrations are preferred but not mandatory.

• Extensive experience with groundwater, soil, soil vapor, sediment contamination, petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, and heavy metals.

• Experience with emerging contaminants is preferred.

• Prior experience with utility, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, and/or brownfield redevelopment sites is preferred.

• Proven success in managing complex environmental remediation projects and multidisciplinary teams.

• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and remediation programs.

• Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA, UST, and state-led cleanup programs is preferred.

• Experience with remedial systems, excavation, groundwater treatment, vapor mitigation, and site restoration is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain senior-level client relationships and contribute to business development and revenue growth.

• Strong skills in technical writing, communication, leadership, and organization.

• Proven experience in project budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, and financial performance management.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with the capability to identify opportunities, develop markets, and contribute to the long-term growth of a consulting practice.

• Candidates must reside in Northern California or the Bay Area.

• Periodic travel throughout California is required.
