PDF Annotation, Transcription Expert – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Review and verify the provided PDF tasks

• Ensure that the pages are in Japanese, readable, contain valid content, and do not reveal personal information

• Identify and delineate every significant page area

• Assign component types and establish reading-order indices

• Connect regions to corresponding figures or tables using parent component identifiers

• Accurately transcribe all text, including kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and handwritten content

• Mark any illegible source areas

• Document language, type of document, source, dimensions of pages, and flags for tables, formulas, and handwriting

• Evaluate the annotation and transcription work of colleagues as a seasoned annotator

• Generate human-created structural annotations and transcriptions for AI training datasets

⛳️ Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with complete proficiency in kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and various character forms

• Professional background in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial tasks, or similar document-heavy roles

• Exceptional character-level accuracy and meticulous attention to detail

• Methodical application of a taxonomy across numerous pages

• Familiarity with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, examination papers, and handwritten documents

• Capability to annotate and transcribe documents in the Japanese language

• Fluent Japanese language skills are mandatory

• Engagement as an independent contractor

• Must not require H1-B or STEM OPT sponsorship
