Principal Scientist – Ecological Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the development and expansion of the Ecological Services practice area in collaboration with service line, growth, and strategic leadership.

• Create new business opportunities and foster relationships with both existing and potential clients.

• Enhance the team's technical expertise and service offerings.

• Direct wetlands and waterways delineation, permitting, restoration, and valuation services.

• Manage natural resource impact assessments as per NEPA guidelines.

• Conduct assessments for threatened and endangered species.

• Oversee biodiversity and biological community assessments.

• Lead dam removal and river restoration initiatives.

• Assist with site-specific ecological risk assessments for remedial investigations, particularly focused on contaminated sediment investigations.

• Ensure adherence to CERCLA, RCRA, and state program standards.

• Aid in NRDA injury assessment and planning for compensatory restoration.

• Design and execute long-term monitoring programs to assess remedy protectiveness.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging issues in ecological risk assessment.

• Engage in technical conferences and participate in industry or regulatory working groups.

• Establish and maintain quality assurance protocols for ecological assessment methodologies and reporting.

• Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely and successful completion within budget parameters.

• Manage and mentor skilled professionals while providing technical guidance to junior team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• 12-15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, specifically in ecological services and ecological risk assessment.

• Proven track record of successful project management and outcomes.

• Strong experience in team building and business development.

• Excellent leadership and management capabilities, with a solid background in mentoring and career development.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Exceptional interpersonal capabilities.

• In-depth knowledge of regulations and guidelines for remedial investigation and risk assessment under federal and state programs, including RCRA and CERCLA.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, natural resources, toxicology, or a related discipline.
