Principal Quality Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and enhance the organization-wide quality engineering roadmap.

• Create a quality accountability framework that outlines responsibilities for engineers, Engineering Managers (EMs), and Product Managers (PMs).

• Establish a comprehensive test strategy encompassing unit, component, contract, API, end-to-end, mobile, performance, load, and accessibility testing.

• Develop and improve AI-native quality tools, including AI agents and capabilities for test generation, code reviews, and quality guidance.

• Oversee CI/CD and testing infrastructure, which includes necessary checks, quality gates, end-to-end and visual regression pipelines, performance budgets, and mobile test automation.

• Determine which checks will block deployments and which will run asynchronously, all while maintaining fast pipelines.

• Integrate monitoring with incident response and create actionable, production-quality dashboards.

• Offer technical mentorship to QA engineers across various squads and provide feedback to their Engineering Managers during performance evaluations.

• Promote the ongoing enhancement of quality standards, tools, and QA squad methodologies.

• Assess and enhance flakiness, pipeline costs, and synchronous versus asynchronous test execution.

• Launch new AI-native quality capabilities and disseminate the quality vision throughout product teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience utilizing AI to generate tests and applying AI tools beyond individual productivity.

• Experience in establishing agentic tooling such as Claude Code or workflows based on MCP.

• Capability to design testing strategies suitable for a team's maturity and context.

• Practical experience in building and maintaining component, contract, API, end-to-end, and performance test suites.

• Familiarity with CI pipelines, test automation, and troubleshooting infrastructure.

• Proficiency in coaching engineers on testing methodologies and conducting enablement sessions.

• Willingness to personally develop CI pipelines and associated tools.

• Ability to influence and mentor QA engineers across different squads without having direct reports.

• Experience in hiring, coaching, and performance management for QA or engineering teams is advantageous.

• Capability to collaborate with US-facing partners and work during overlapping hours.
