Principal Product Manager – Communications Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Formulate and implement the product strategy and roadmap for Upstart's Communications Platform, ensuring a balance between immediate business priorities and a long-term vision for the platform.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop shared platform capabilities, such as messaging APIs, delivery infrastructure, governance controls, and communication data models that cater to various products and channels.

• Create scalable platform abstractions that allow product teams to enhance customer communications more effectively while minimizing redundant engineering efforts.

• Foster alignment among Engineering, Growth, Servicing, Capital, Banking, Compliance, Risk, and other cross-functional partners to prioritize platform investments and shape the overarching technical strategy of the company.

• Develop platform features that enhance regulatory compliance, auditability, and operational visibility through the implementation of standardized controls and monitoring.

• Establish success metrics, assess platform performance, and leverage data and customer insights to drive continuous improvement in platform adoption, reliability, and business impact.

• Assess external technologies and vendor partnerships that can enhance platform capabilities and support the future product strategy.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

• Over 7 years of product management experience in the development of software products.

• Proven experience in leading platform, infrastructure, or developer platform products within a software organization.

• Demonstrated experience working closely with engineering teams to define APIs, platform capabilities, or distributed systems.

• History of leading cross-functional product initiatives that involve engineering and business stakeholders from strategy formulation to successful delivery.
