This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and uphold the vision, value proposition, and roadmap for the designated product area.
• Set goals focused on outcomes and plan both leading and lagging indicators.
• Balance user needs, go-to-market requirements, and platform considerations.
• Contribute to discussions regarding platform-level strategy and the overall roadmap.
• Gain direct insights into users through engagement and ongoing discovery.
• Conduct customer interviews, usability tests, behavioral analyses, and rapid prototyping.
• Develop empathy towards learners, educators, and administrators.
• Act as the subject matter expert in the competitive landscape for the assigned assessment experience.
• Lead build/buy/partner evaluations for Pearson Higher Education.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams on framing problems and designing solutions.
• Foster team development as a player-coach, sharing expertise and mentoring colleagues.
• Produce product documentation including PRDs, specifications, capability definitions, and user stories.
• Oversee scope and sequencing across strategic, immediate, and operational objectives.
• Collaborate with engineering on architecture, API design, and technical trade-offs.
• Identify and assess AI capabilities such as generative AI, prompt engineering, ML-assisted workflows, and intelligent content tools.
• Become proficient in classroom AI applications and their implications for Pearson Higher Education assessments.
• Cultivate relationships with engineering, design, data, content, and go-to-market partners.
• Convey strategy, progress, trade-offs, risks, and decisions to senior stakeholders.
• Articulate a clear product narrative that encompasses the problem, users, rationale, and desired outcomes.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in product management.
• Proven track record of owning a product or area from discovery to measurable outcomes.
• Strong discovery capabilities and the ability to convert insights into product decisions.
• Experience with B2B2C products catering to multiple user types.
• Ideally, experience with both user-facing applications and developer-facing services.
• Technical proficiency in architecture and API discussions.
• Capability to make informed technical trade-offs.
• Data fluency, encompassing the definition of metrics, measurement planning, instrumentation, and the use of both quantitative and qualitative insights.
• Hands-on experience with modern AI tools in product development.
• Sound judgment on when AI is suitable and when it is not.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in producing opportunity assessments, user stories, and strategic framing.
• Stakeholder management experience within complex organizations.
• Ability to influence without direct authority and establish trust across functions.
• Bonus: Background in educational technology.
• Bonus: Experience in AI/ML product development in areas such as classification, recommendation, NLP, or computer vision.
