This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Define Roon’s product strategy and target market.
• Identify how serious listeners discover and engage with music, adapting Roon accordingly.
• Advocate for listeners through discussions, community forums, support tickets, reviews, and product analytics.
• Convert strategy into a prioritized list of features.
• Determine which initiatives are developed, shelved, or abandoned.
• Own and prioritize the roadmap over multiple quarters.
• Develop implementation plans and specifications in collaboration with engineering.
• Establish product metrics and define criteria for feature success.
• Create interactive prototypes utilizing AI tools.
• Uphold and protect the product's quality standards in collaboration with design.
• Examine the codebase, business rules, limitations, and edge cases before proposing changes.
• Construct research pipelines, internal tools, automation processes, and evaluation frameworks.
• Work closely with engineers and a designer in a proactive senior product role.
• Over 10 years of experience in product management.
• Managed strategy for an entire product or business rather than just a feature area.
• Conducted personal research instead of outsourcing it.
• Launched new initiatives and remained with a mature product long enough to reflect on earlier decisions.
• Deep and ongoing engagement with music.
• Daily utilization of AI for research synthesis, prototyping, and personal tools.
• Experience in transforming ideas into working prototypes using Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable, or v0.
• Capacity to validate AI-generated outputs and discern when to avoid using AI tools.
• Ability to uphold and justify positions with incomplete information.
• Proficient in working with minimal supervision within a small, remote, self-managing team.
• Strong written communication skills tailored for expert users and senior leadership.
• Developed measurement practices from the ground up.
• Proficient in querying product data using SQL or similar, conducting experiments, and analyzing results.
• Familiarity with subscription metrics such as trial-to-paid conversion, retention, churn, and lifetime value.
• Sufficient technical fluency to understand system behavior, limitations, and trade-offs.
• Willingness to travel up to 5%, both domestically and internationally.
• Capable of working virtually across any US time zone.
• Must successfully complete a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
