Principal Product Manager, AI Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the AI platform strategy and roadmap for the agent infrastructure built on Gigawatt’s unified data fabric.

• Transform the data fabric into agent-ready contexts through retrieval, grounding, and authorized access to utility data.

• Define and develop both a code-first SDK experience and a no-code builder for utility subject-matter experts.

• Make informed build-versus-buy decisions regarding AI tools, including LangSmith, Arize, and open standards.

• Construct agent orchestration, retrieval, tool and action APIs, evaluation harnesses, guardrails, and observability features.

• Deliver MVPs in collaboration with utility design partners and refine them based on customer friction and edge cases.

• Oversee the developer and builder experience, which includes API and SDK design, documentation, sandboxes, templates, onboarding, and production deployment.

• Establish agent evaluation processes using golden sets, regression suites, online evaluations, traces, and audit records.

• Design workflows that incorporate human-in-the-loop elements, covering autonomy, approvals, state management, interrupts, replay, and escalation.

• Manage trust, tenancy, governance, explainability, auditability, retention, access controls, and safe autonomy.

• Specify versioning, backward compatibility, deprecation policies, SLAs, support models, packaging, and pricing inputs.

• Collaborate with engineering, design, security, data engineering, and utility customers to launch production-ready capabilities.

• Define use cases and technical requirements, work together on data model and API design, and carry out product testing.

• Set and monitor KPIs, including production agents, time-to-first-agent, no-code adoption, evaluation pass rates, task success, escalations, latency, cost, and support burden.

• Report directly to the SVP of Product.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years in product management.

• At least 2 years of experience with AI or ML systems.

• Extensive experience with a platform or product that customers outside your organization utilize.

• Proven track record of delivering APIs, SDKs, or application builders that are actively used by customers in production.

• Familiarity with versioning and deprecation, support escalations, security questionnaires, and external product commitments.

• Working knowledge of LLMs, retrieval mechanisms, tool utilization, guardrails, and the associated trade-offs in cost, latency, and reliability.

• Experience in designing evaluation sets and achieving quality benchmarks.

• Capability to read and analyze traces across retrieval processes, prompts, tool schemas, and models.

• Proficiency in participating in architecture reviews and crafting technical specifications.

• Experience delivering software in regulated, multi-tenant environments subject to external audits.

• Insight into tenant isolation, explainability, data lineage, retention, and least-privilege access principles.

• Familiarity with low-code, configuration-driven, or builder-style products is a plus.

• Basic knowledge of LangGraph or LangChain is advantageous.

• Experience with AWS Bedrock is a plus.

• Comfort in reasoning about data models, enterprise source-system integration, and the differences between streaming and batch processes is beneficial.

• Exposure to the utility or energy sector, or a background in software engineering, ML, or data engineering is a plus.

• Familiarity with Jira, Figma, and standard product management tools.

• Remote work preference for central and eastern time zones, ideally in Chicago, Austin, or Nashville.
