Principal Operations Engineer, Network

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary technical authority for the operational network fleet within the hyperscale AI data center portfolio.

• Conduct site evaluations and operational audits.

• Prepare the network operations team for technical readiness prior to site activation.

• Assess network platforms and integration designs from an operational viewpoint.

• Relay operational insights back into network engineering, deployment, and supply chain processes.

• Draft, approve, and implement high-risk network MOPs and change records in active production environments.

• Lead comprehensive root cause analyses on disruptions until resolution.

• Ensure OEMs, ODMs, and service vendors meet operational standards.

• Serve as a collaborative force among network operations, network engineering, compute operations, facilities, supply chain, and customer-facing teams.

• Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience operating mission-critical network topologies at scale.

• Extensive background as the senior technical representative on a site, campus, or fleet.

• Proficient in IP network operations and optical networking.

• Familiarity with TCP/IP and network routing protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, and MPLS.

• Knowledgeable about physical network infrastructure components.

• Experience in drafting and executing high-risk MOPs.

• Skilled in leading root cause analyses on significant network incidents to resolution.

• Capable of holding OEMs, ODMs, and deployment partners accountable to operational standards.

• Strong technical writing skills, including health assessments, RCAs, and design feedback.

• Ability to mentor and enhance the technical readiness of surrounding teams.

• Bonus: experience with hyperscale or large HPC fleets supporting thousands of endpoints.

• Bonus: familiarity with Linux and hardware management tools.

• Bonus: experience in establishing new sites from handover to steady state.

• Bonus: expertise in scripting for fleet-scale operations.
