Senior Network Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership, manage, and enhance resilient, ultra-low-latency networks and physical data center infrastructure that support institutional trading, market data, and exchange connectivity across both cloud and on-premises environments.

• Oversee racking, cabling, cross-connects, and vendor collaboration.

• Design and maintain routing, traffic segmentation, and multicast market data architectures.

• Implement and manage firewalls and secure connectivity solutions, including IPsec VPNs, SSL VPNs, and third-party connections.

• Promote observability and operational excellence through SNMP, gRPC telemetry, latency and packet loss analysis, microburst detection, and network automation.

• Lead safe production changes, incident responses, failover testing, and out-of-hours maintenance for 24/7 trading systems.

• Engage in an on-call rotation.

• Mentor engineers and collaborate with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading system teams to enhance reliability, minimize single points of failure, and boost developer velocity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in network, infrastructure, or SRE engineering.

• Proven track record of taking ownership of production systems within financial services, electronic trading, or other latency-sensitive environments.

• Experience with on-premises or colocated deployments.

• Extensive hands-on knowledge of multicast networking, BGP, OSPF, VRFs, high-availability architectures, low-latency data center switching, and physical network infrastructure.

• Capability to lead live incident response for production trading systems, manage risk during changes, and coordinate cross-functional resolutions during market events.

• Familiarity with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, SNMP or gRPC telemetry, network automation using Python or Ansible, and solid Linux networking fundamentals.

• Understanding of exchange or electronic trading system concepts.

• Responsible application of generative AI with human oversight.

• Participation in an on-call rotation and out-of-hours maintenance is required.
