This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee the complete mechanical design and engineering of hyperscale Data Center Infrastructure systems, which encompass liquid-cooled rack assemblies, CDUs, manifolds, enclosures, structural frames, and hydronic piping systems.
• Act as the technical authority for single-phase and two-phase liquid cooling architectures, primary and secondary loop designs, in-rack distribution, and system integration.
• Establish and confirm operational performance criteria, including pressure ratings, hydrostatic limits, temperature ranges, flow rates and uniformity, thermal expansion, durability, and serviceability.
• Design, analyze, and validate machined components, welded fabrications, manifolds, and structural systems employing stress analysis, finite element analysis, flow modeling, and structural load calculations.
• Lead the selection of wetted materials and perform compatibility analysis, addressing corrosion mitigation, surface treatments, cleanliness standards, and durability.
• Create and assess CAD models and technical data packages utilizing CREO, SolidWorks, or equivalent software.
• Draft and endorse technical specifications for piping systems, rack-level cooling infrastructure, and hydronic components.
• Develop and manage validation protocols, including hydrostatic pressure testing, leak detection and mitigation, flow resistance analysis, and corrosion verification.
• Review customer design proposals and technical specifications for feasibility, manufacturability, cost, and risk evaluation.
• Facilitate cross-functional design reviews with electrical, thermal, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
• Enhance rack manifold design and manufacturing processes, focusing on machining, welding, surface finishing, connection interfaces, venting, draining, and flow paths.
• Propel continuous improvement in manufacturing assembly techniques and tooling.
• Spearhead root cause investigations for intricate mechanical failures and implement corrective design enhancements.
• Provide technical leadership in vendor qualification and management.
• Recognize and mitigate technical risks while contributing to liquid cooling R&D initiatives.
• Apply modular data center design principles to liquid cooling integration.
• Design cooling systems for prefabricated and skid-mounted deployment, considering transport and vibration loads, shipping constraints, and inter-module connections.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field from an accredited institution.
• 8 years of experience in mechanical design and integration of mission-critical systems.
• Demonstrated success in system designs and implementations within a relevant industry.
• Strong comprehension of mechanical systems, integration strategies, and system coordination.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations pertinent to Energy Storage Systems and Data Center Infrastructure is preferred.
• A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred.
• Practical experience in designing liquid cooling systems for modular/prefabricated data center deployments, including factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site integration.
