This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +2 more states.
• Lead and oversee a proficient team specializing in power systems modeling and analytics for utility clients.
• Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers in the theories and principles of power engineering.
• Enhance job-related engineering knowledge, technical skills, and overall team performance.
• Execute project management responsibilities, which include forecasting, hour tracking, budgeting, scheduling milestones, organizing meetings, and assigning tasks.
• Engage with potential clients to showcase ICF’s expertise and secure new business opportunities.
• Develop work scopes, project timelines, and budget estimates.
• Attend weekly client meetings and present updates on project status.
• Create, modify, and maintain transmission short circuit models utilizing CAPE and ASPEN.
• Create, modify, and maintain transmission power flow models using PSSE and PSCAD.
• Create, modify, and maintain distribution system models employing CYME, Synergi, and WindMil.
• Conduct Arc Flash analysis to determine facility hazard ratings.
• Analyze transmission line models employing LiDAR and 3D models in PLS-CADD.
• Conduct voltage imbalance analysis using PSCAD.
• Calculate thermal ampacity ratings in accordance with FAC-008, FERC-881, and relevant IEEE standards.
• Prepare technical reports summarizing analysis results.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, SQL, and VBA.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
• Over 12 years of experience in electrical engineering theories and principles, including transmission and distribution system modeling, short circuit and power flow analysis, arc flash hazard calculations, voltage imbalance studies, and/or thermal ampacity ratings.
• More than 5 years of experience working at an electric utility, including investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, or electric cooperatives.
• Preferred: Master's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
• Preferred: Experience in people management and mentorship.
• Preferred: Experience in directing and reviewing the work of others for quality assurance while providing constructive feedback.
• Preferred: Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NERC, and FERC regulations.
• Preferred: Experience in scripting with Python to automate analyses within power systems software.
• Preferred: Ability to plan and manage assignments while effectively communicating challenges to complete tasks on budget and schedule.
• Preferred: Proficiency in software tools for engineering modeling, automation systems, and spreadsheet-based analyses.
