Senior Analytics Engineer, Financial Systems Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain invoicing and reimbursement processes for sold contracts and paid claims

• Reconcile incoming merchant data, operational databases, the data warehouse, and accounting systems

• Investigate data discrepancies to identify root causes and address issues at their source

• Create and uphold dbt financial models for revenue recognition, reporting for obligors and reinsurers, and claim costs

• Incorporate tests, documentation, and pull request reviews into financial models

• Manage reported data issues, assess their impact, coordinate corrective measures, hold affected invoices, and monitor systematic resolutions

• Verify the accuracy of claim and service order expenses and automate reimbursement processes

• Collaborate on merchant configurations and assist with internal audits

• Establish automated financial controls for monitoring loss ratios, detecting anomalies, unexpected expenses, and attribution gaps

• Analyze and rectify production data in relation to APIs and work alongside engineering teams for upstream corrections

• Assist with internal and external audits by providing traceable, documented, and reproducible results

• Report directly to the Director of Financial Systems Engineering

⛳️ Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience in analytics or data engineering

• Proficient in creating analytical or financial models in dbt (or similar) with version control, testing, and pull request reviews

• Strong SQL proficiency, including the ability to write efficient and well-structured SQL queries against large financial datasets

• Capability to trace complex existing models and ensure their logic aligns with business intentions

• Strong reconciliation skills, including the ability to identify sources of truth and validate system agreements

• Comfortable working with financial data

• Knowledge of APIs for investigating and rectifying operational data issues

• Excellent written communication skills for interacting with accountants and account owners

• A focus on root-cause analysis and automation

• Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations

• Bonus experience in merchant reconciliation; warranty, insurance, or service contract programs; claims and reimbursements; order-to-cash systems; NetSuite; obligor and reinsurer reporting; or AI-assisted workflows for operational triage
