Principal Firmware Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design, establish, implement, and document advanced embedded/firmware software architectures for iCGM products.

• Track technical specifications from requirements through to manufacturing.

• Collaborate with hardware teams for seamless software-hardware integration.

• Develop drivers while optimizing battery management and memory utilization.

• Guide technical design choices and define module interfaces.

• Lead and mentor engineering teams as well as individual contributors.

• Offer technical direction, perform code reviews, and set coding standards.

• Execute system-level performance analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts.

• Ensure adherence to reliability, security, scalability, FDA compliance, and safety standards.

• Present technical perspectives to audiences that range from engineers to executives.

• Collaborate on system integration efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in the design, development, and debugging of embedded systems.

• Proficiency in C/C++ and real-time operating systems (RTOS).

• In-depth knowledge of microprocessor/microcontroller architecture, particularly ARM Cortex.

• Experience with low-level peripheral drivers.

• Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and BLE.

• Strong command of software architectural design patterns, modularity, and reusability.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 15+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of equivalent industry experience, or a PhD with 7+ years of experience.

• Excellent verbal and presentation communication skills.

• Willingness to travel 5–15% of the time.
