Principal Engineer, Supplier Quality

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Actively oversee Supplier Quality risks and work to minimize supplier escapes.

• Ensure supplier processes and product quality meet contractual, regulatory, and technical standards.

• Engage directly with supplier staff to evaluate their quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.

• Perform product and process verification activities.

• Track supplier quality performance and lead root cause corrective action investigations.

• Assist in maintaining the approved supplier list and assess supplier performance.

• Handle supplier requests for waivers, deviations, and discrepancy reporting.

• Keep management updated on supplier performance, quality status, and associated risks.

• Coordinate and supervise the execution of the Supplier Quality plan across all program phases.

• Travel to supplier locations for source inspections, quality audits, special process audits, and oversight activities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.

• At least 5 years of experience in quality and/or engineering.

• Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

• Preferred experience in inspecting hardware and interpreting engineering drawings.

• Preferred experience in auditing special processes and conducting source inspections.

• Preferred experience in facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.

• Preferred background in the defense industry, including interaction with suppliers and program management.

• Preferred experience in a supplier quality role and familiarity with SAP.

• Preferred experience with the ISO 9001 / AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
