Principal Engineer, Real-Time Visualization

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and oversee the frontend for Legion's Command & Control system that manages swarms of diverse aircraft.

• Create real-time, collaborative interfaces for the simultaneous control of numerous aircraft, even during communication outages.

• Develop and deliver UI concepts for vehicle telemetry, sensor information, scheduling, crew resources, data link management, and other related functionalities.

• Establish the frontend architecture, patterns, and standards for the development team.

• Release updates frequently, supported by robust CI/CD, QA, and DevSecOps practices.

• Empower a single operator to plan, manage, and execute missions in real-time across a networked swarm of diverse aircraft.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 8 years of experience in developing complex, production-level frontend applications, with a proven history of owning frontend architecture.

• Extensive experience in building production web interfaces using React or a similar modern framework.

• Proven experience in mentoring engineers and establishing technical direction for a frontend team.

• Familiarity with both immediate mode (games, simulation) and retained mode UI paradigms.

• Demonstrated experience in performance-sensitive application development.

• Knowledge of video streaming protocols.

• Strong UI/UX instincts.

• Experience with WebGL/OpenGL.

• Background in geospatial applications.

• Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents of the U.S., protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain necessary authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
