Principal Engineer, Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.

📋 Description

• Establish the technical direction and roadmap for the Platform.

• Advocate for the Platform roadmap to engineering teams and executives who depend on it.

• Take responsibility for the reliability, performance, and cost of Traild's GCP infrastructure.

• Oversee networking, compute, storage, and infrastructure-as-code.

• Enhance the developer experience by improving CI/CD pipelines, build and deployment tools, and observability.

• Remain actively involved as a contributing member of the team.

• Maintain high standards during design reviews, code reviews, and adherence to engineering best practices.

• Mentor and support approximately five engineers, including recruitment as the team grows.

• Manage operational health and incident response for the foundational aspects of the product.

• Extensive hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure.

• Strong technical judgement to independently influence strategy and direction.

• Proven track record of mentoring and developing engineers.

• Practical experience with GCP infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, CI/CD, observability, infrastructure-as-code, developer experience, and FinOps.

• Capability to lead and nurture a platform engineering team.

• Ability to engage in design reviews and code reviews.

• Proficient in managing operational health and incident response.

• Competence in hiring as the team expands.
