Principal Engineer – Overhead Transmission Line

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Act as a subject matter expert in the design of transmission lines, construction methodologies, and new industry technologies.

β€’ Offer technical support and quality assurance evaluations for engineering outputs, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.

β€’ Serve as Engineer of Record when necessary, providing final technical endorsement for engineering outputs.

β€’ Design overhead transmission lines within the voltage range of 69kV to 500kV.

β€’ Conduct structural analysis, design, and foundation assessments.

β€’ Prepare and evaluate technical specifications and drawings.

β€’ Execute engineering analyses and simulations for transmission line design.

β€’ Mentor and guide junior engineers and team members.

β€’ Carry out independent reviews of work produced by others, encompassing calculations, drawings, specifications, and transmission line models.

β€’ Offer assistance to the project team during the construction and installation phases.

β€’ Collaborate with fellow engineers and project managers to achieve project objectives.

β€’ Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.

β€’ Perform fieldwork as necessary to facilitate design, construction, and commissioning activities.

β€’ Engage with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

β€’ Take part in project meetings and provide required technical support.

β€’ Review vendor submissions.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or a related discipline) from an ABET-accredited institution.

β€’ Over 15 years of experience in the design of overhead transmission lines.

β€’ Possession of a PE license is mandatory.

β€’ Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD, or similar software.

β€’ Comprehensive understanding of industry codes and standards such as NESC, ASCE, ACI, RUS, IEC, and IEEE.

β€’ Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

β€’ Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively articulate technical recommendations to clients.

β€’ Proven ability to analyze complex issues and formulate effective solutions at both strategic and operational levels.

β€’ Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting, with a keen attention to detail.

β€’ Commitment to promoting learning and professional development through mentorship, training, and nurturing the next generation of engineers.

β€’ Willingness to travel up to 15% of the time.

β€’ Must hold a valid driver's license.
