Principal Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +5 more countries.

📋 Description

• Outline the future architecture of the platform and establish the technical direction for the Merchant Experience pillar.

• Assume responsibility for the solutions and technical guidance within the pillar.

• Make decisions regarding architecture and technical aspects, as well as review architectural and design documentation.

• Ensure that solutions align with the overarching platform strategy and established practices.

• Contribute to the engineering-wide strategy and standards via the Architecture Council.

• Guide development teams during implementation with proofs of concept, design clarifications, and resolution of design issues.

• Investigate and address architectural challenges related to performance, scalability, and integration.

• Mentor and train team members on design methodologies and coding standards.

• Create unified architecture practices and guardrails in collaboration with architects and engineers.

• Promote the adoption of architectural practices and standards across various teams.

• Serve as the authority on Domain-Driven Design and architectural best practices within the pillar.

• Mentor and educate engineering teams to ensure consistent, high-quality solution development.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in software engineering, including roles such as Staff/Principal Engineer, Lead Developer, or Software Architect.

• Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).

• Experience implementing DDD within Microservices architecture and complex domain modeling.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.

• Comprehensive understanding of data structures, software architecture, design patterns, and distributed systems.

• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or Azure.

• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.

• Advanced knowledge of PHP (preferred).

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and MySQL (preferred).

• Understanding of front-end technologies (preferred).

• Practical experience using LLMs and coding assistants to enhance software development processes.

• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, continuous delivery, A/B testing, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, and containerized/cloud-native environments.
