Principal Engineer, Applied AI – Fullstack/Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the overall architecture for the Applied AI stack and the patient-facing experience, from initial intake to continuous companion interactions.

• Collaborate with research-oriented colleagues to implement AI-driven experiences in production.

• Strengthen services to ensure uptime, reliability, and scalability.

• Develop best practices for debugging, observability, and operational preparedness.

• Create systems designed for durability and scalability from the outset.

• Guide senior technical leaders and enhance engineering capabilities throughout the organization.

• Navigate complexity and ambiguity, eliminate organizational obstacles, and expedite strategic initiatives.

• Convert customer requirements and product objectives into scalable technical solutions.

• Establish architectural principles and patterns focused on customer needs.

• Design systems and team structures that promote sustainable growth.

• Propel early investments in observability, migrations, and reliability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Extensive architectural knowledge with a history of delivering large-scale production systems.

• Proven success in shaping technical strategy and executing cross-organizational technical initiatives at a group or organizational level.

• Experience in establishing services at scale within production environments.

• Profound experience in managing service architecture across a complete stack.

• A production-focused mindset emphasizing uptime and reliability.

• Practical engineering skills with active involvement in coding and architecture.

• Some familiarity with LLM/AI services or AI-driven systems.

• Capability to balance immediate delivery with a resilient architectural approach.

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with research, product, and clinical stakeholders.

• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without restrictions for any employer.
