Principal ECAD Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Create PCB designs from initial concept to manufacturing phase.

• Generate PCB, Circuit Card Assembly, and schematic drawings intended for suppliers.

• Conduct schematic capture, component placement, trace routing, and prepare Gerber/ODB++ files.

• Utilize Siemens Xpedition Enterprise and BluePrint-PCB for drafting.

• Design rigid, flexible, and rigid-flex assemblies.

• Implement complete designs, revisions, drawing modifications, change notifications, copper alterations, and process enhancement projects.

• Collaborate daily with engineering teams from Electrical, Mechanical, Components, Test, and Producibility sectors.

• Ensure that all design requirements are fulfilled while taking into account cost, cycle time, and manufacturability.

• Travel to El Segundo, California approximately three times a year.

⛳️ Requirements

• Generally requires a University Degree or equivalent professional experience.

• At least 8 years of relevant experience.

• Must have at least two of the following: prior work experience with PCB or CCA manufacturing principles impacting circuitry and component layout; familiarity with the electrical design process; experience in laying out Rigid, Flex, or Rigid-Flex boards.

• Capability to obtain and uphold a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

• U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

• An active and existing DoD Confidential security clearance is required starting from day one.

• Proficient understanding of Analog, Digital including DDR, RF, Power, and mixed technology.

• Experience in multi-layer designs utilizing HDI technology.

• Technical PCB design expertise using Siemens design tools, including Xpedition and BluePrint.

• Familiarity with schematic capture, placement, routing, auto-router, constraint manager, and library management tools.

• Competence in exporting manufacturing data in Gerber and ODB++ formats.

• Experience with Valor NPI, Design for Manufacturing guidelines, and Design Rule Checking software.

• Ability to comprehend and interpret PCB and CCA drawings.

• Knowledge of IPC 6012 and IPC 6013 standards.

• Understanding of military and commercial design standards, GD&T techniques, and electronic packaging manufacturability considerations.

• Knowledge of RF circuitry and filter layout.

• Familiarity with operating system concepts and implementations, as well as network services related to Microsoft Windows suites.

• Active Secret DoD security clearance is preferred.
