Principal DevOps Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership and ensure the maintenance of the PeopleFluent Hosting pipeline and automation infrastructure.

• Be responsible for the technical vision and architecture pertaining to hosting infrastructure across compute, networking, and platform services.

• Establish the technical direction to ensure design decisions align with long-term goals for scalability, security, and maintainability.

• Actively seek out opportunities for infrastructure optimization.

• Engage hands-on to enhance the scalability and security of the company's infrastructure.

• Lead complex projects from inception to completion.

• Document and manage changes through formalized processes.

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to outline requirements.

• Articulate technical design trade-offs effectively.

• Provide mentorship to others within the hosting team.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of experience in the industry.

• Proficient in Enterprise Linux, encompassing SELinux policies, standard configurations, enforcement, and headless server management.

• Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including DHCP and subnetting.

• Familiarity with virtualization platforms like Proxmox and vSphere, including advanced cluster configurations, VLANs, virtual switches, and network segmentation.

• Experience in managing and administering monitoring/observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.

• Proficient in Git and shell scripting.

• Robust knowledge and experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, and Route53.

• Hands-on experience with provisioning, orchestration, and administration using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes.

• Experience in release and deployment automation utilizing Jenkins.

• Proven ability to manage configuration changes through a structured change control process, including Git-based workflows, branching, pull requests, and code reviews.

• Bonus: Experience with datacenter operations, including automated network switch configuration.

• Bonus: Knowledge in automating basic firewall rules.

• Bonus: Experience in database administration with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL.

• Bonus: Familiarity with Elasticsearch and Kafka.

• Bonus: Experience working in an Agile and Scrum environment.

• Bonus: Background in web-based/SaaS companies.

• Bonus: Experience in startup environments.
