This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +13 more states.
• Report directly to the Vice President of IT.
• Develop and implement the enterprise data architecture strategy.
• Design, construct, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines into BigQuery for essential business domains.
• Create dependable orchestration patterns featuring retries, idempotency, backfills, SLAs/SLOs, and incident response.
• Enforce data quality, testing, monitoring, and observability frameworks.
• Standardize CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code practices for data systems.
• Lead the migration of legacy warehouses to cloud lakehouse architectures and oversee platform upgrades.
• Develop and manage curated, analytics-ready datasets and models.
• Set standards for conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
• Supervise domain-driven modeling and design of data products.
• Articulate the enterprise data architecture vision, canonical data models, domain boundaries, and integration patterns.
• Guide architectural decisions for data warehousing, lakehouse, streaming, MDM, and operational data platforms.
• Assess and select strategic data technologies and vendors.
• Collaborate with Security and Legal teams on privacy, compliance, and governance architectures.
• Establish governance fundamentals, including documentation, lineage/metadata, access controls, and PII management.
• Act as an escalation point for data architecture decisions and mentor senior engineers and architects.
• Partner with application engineering and analytics teams on data contracts and integrations.
• Convert business capabilities into scalable data platform solutions.
• Optimize BigQuery workload costs and performance through query optimization, partition pruning, clustering, and workload management.
• Promote the adoption of real-time analytics, AI enablement, semantic layers, and data mesh.
• Develop a multi-year data roadmap and maturity models.
• Operate at an enterprise level across various business domains and influence technical strategy.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in Data Engineering, Architecture, or Platform Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing enterprise-scale cloud data architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Expertise in data warehousing, Lakehouse architecture, distributed processing, streaming, and enterprise data modeling (including Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault, and/or domain-driven design).
• Strong grasp of data governance, metadata management, and security architecture.
• Experience leading cross-functional architecture initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and executives.

• Preferred: at least 7 years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or Data Platform roles with significant production ownership.
• Preferred: extensive experience with GCP services relevant to data engineering (including Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions/Run, Secret Manager, IAM).
• Preferred: familiarity with BigQuery best practices, including partitioning/clustering, incremental strategies, performance tuning, and cost management.
• Preferred: strong understanding of BI consumption needs, including star schema design, incremental refresh considerations, and semantic consistency/metrics definitions.
• Preferred: experience in implementing data mesh or domain-oriented ownership models, exposure to AI/ML feature platforms, experience in regulated environments, and strong cloud cost management skills.
• Preferred: industry certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, or GCP Professional Architect.
