Principal Dark Web Collection Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Act as the organization-wide authority on dark web and underground community interactions, providing insights to product, engineering, sales, and analyst teams.

• Take responsibility for strategic collection choices regarding forums, markets, channels, intelligence priorities, and allocation of resources.

• Seek out, assess, and establish access to criminal forums, darknet marketplaces, Telegram channels, and covert infrastructures while adhering to legal and policy regulations.

• Create and uphold collection strategies, personas, and source documentation.

• Collaborate with engineering to convert research methodologies into automated collection processes.

• Track sources for takedowns, migrations, rebranding, and other operational developments.

• Generate comprehensive intelligence on threat actors, community dynamics, and new underground infrastructures.

• Work alongside product, PMM, sales, customer success, and research teams.

• Represent Recorded Future through customer-oriented blogs, webinars, and public research on dark web methodologies and trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical dark web threat research with clear collection achievements.

• Extensive, up-to-date knowledge of significant criminal forums and darknet markets.

• Demonstrated capability to engage in closed or invite-only communities while ensuring OPSEC and legal adherence.

• Professional working proficiency in Russian; critical for this position.

• Strong analytical writing abilities suitable for both technical and executive audiences.

• Comfortable presenting to customers, leading webinars, and crafting public-facing content.

• Additional language proficiency in Ukrainian, Romanian, Chinese, Portuguese, or Arabic is a plus.

• Experience in cybercrime research, threat actor tracking, or law enforcement intelligence is preferred.

• Previous roles at threat intelligence vendors, CSIRTs, law enforcement, or intelligence agencies are favored.

• Basic knowledge of Python scripting for data parsing and format conversion is advantageous.
