Principal Consultant – AI Security

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead client engagements as the Subject Matter Expert in AI security assessments, strategy, architecture, and design from initial discovery to executive presentations.

• Evaluate client requirements and offer strategic, tactical, and operational guidance that conveys AI risks in terms understandable to CISO, CIO, and board-level stakeholders.

• Take ownership of AI security offerings, developing reference architectures, standards, and design patterns.

• Collaborate with teams across Security Solutions, Data & Analytics, Digital Consulting, Innovation, and Service Delivery to implement secure and responsible AI transformation initiatives.

• Formulate Trace3’s perspective on emerging AI security challenges, such as trustworthy agents, agent-to-agent trust and delegation, non-human identities, and AI resilience.

• Create and provide training materials for regional solutions architects and sales teams, including discovery guidance and delivery playbooks.

• Build partnerships with AI security and platform vendors, hyperscalers, delivery partners, industry associations, and research organizations.

• Promote AI security through speaking engagements, publications, client and partner briefings, and participation in industry events.

• Remain informed about AI security threats, techniques, technologies, regulations, standards, frameworks, and best practices.

• Mentor consultants, solutions architects, and interns within the practice and across various regions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited institution, or demonstrable knowledge/experience from relevant industry, military, defense, or government roles.

• Experience in a client-facing technology consulting, solutions architecture, or professional services position.

• Over 10 years of experience in developing, implementing, and managing Cybersecurity strategies, programs, architectures, technologies, and related controls.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience securing AI/ML systems in production, including at least two of the following: model and AI supply chain security, LLM and AI application security, agentic AI or autonomous system security, AI data and pipeline security, or AI red teaming and adversarial testing.

• Proven capability to design and defend AI security architectures for enterprise environments, encompassing controls for AI agents, non-human identities, delegated access, tool invocation, and constrained actions across systems.

• Expertise in AI security and Trustworthy AI Principles, Frameworks, and Standards, including but not limited to NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001:2023, ISO 5338:2024, OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications and Agentic Applications, MITRE ATLAS, and CSA AI controls.

• In-depth knowledge of Cybersecurity Principles, Frameworks, and Standards such as NIST CSF, CSA CCM, MITRE ATT&CK, and ISO 27001.

• Familiarity with AI governance and regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and emerging U.S. state and sector regulations.

• Practical experience with at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, GCP, Azure), including their AI platforms, services, and native AI security features.

• Knowledge and hands-on experience in AI security posture management, LLM gateways and guardrails, AI runtime protection, agent identity and authorization, model registries, and AI supply chain controls, as well as AI-aware data security.

• Ability to work collaboratively across functions with software engineers, data scientists, platform teams, and security professionals.

• Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AIGP, AAISM, or cloud AI/security certifications are strongly preferred.

• Previous experience in packaging offerings, authoring reference architectures, or leading technical enablement or certification programs is highly desirable.

• A recognized public technical voice in AI security is highly preferred.

• Capability to conduct training workshops, assessments, and executive briefings while producing clear and concise reports and recommendations.

• Experience in creating and maintaining technical documentation, presentations, plans, and roadmaps.

• Strong executive communication, interpersonal, presentation, and customer engagement skills.

• Self-motivated individual comfortable working directly with clients.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Comfortable handling multiple and changing priorities while meeting deadlines.

• Willingness to travel as needed, approximately 25–35% of the time.

• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
