Principal Cloud FinOps Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of and oversee cloud financial operations across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring alignment of usage and expenditure with business and product objectives.

• Develop and refine cost governance frameworks for tagging, chargeback, budgeting, and commitment management, which includes RIs, Savings Plans, and CUDs.

• Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to integrate cost efficiency into architectural designs, CI/CD processes, and lifecycle management.

• Lead analyses and reporting utilizing CloudZero, offering actionable insights through dashboards and monthly reviews.

• Partner with the Finance team on forecasting, variance analysis, and cost allocation.

• Create and deliver business cases for optimization, automation, and migration initiatives.

• Spearhead the FinOps Champion Programme, coaching cost owners across departments and fostering financial accountability.

• Work together with Procurement and vendor management on cloud contracts, renewals, and negotiations.

• Encourage ongoing improvement through tools, automation, and education that boost FinOps maturity and measurable savings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in FinOps, cloud cost optimization, or cloud architecture within a large multi-cloud enterprise.

• In-depth knowledge of cloud pricing and billing models (AWS, Azure, GCP) and methods to optimize them.

• Practical experience with CloudZero or comparable FinOps and cost visibility platforms.

• Demonstrated capability to drive tangible savings and influence technical and financial stakeholders at all levels.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

• Strong data analysis skills.

• FinOps Certified Professional or an equivalent certification.

• Background in CloudOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or IT Finance.

• Experience in implementing cloud financial governance, chargeback models, or large-scale automation.

• Familiarity with FP&A and financial forecasting.

• A strong commitment to operational excellence, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
