Principal Backend Engineer – Music Discovery Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +16 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and build robust, scalable, and secure APIs for music cataloging, recommendations, and search functionalities.

• Create data models and oversee integrations with external music metadata providers, streaming platforms, and analytics services.

• Spearhead backend engineering initiatives by establishing coding standards, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior developers.

• Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to outline API contracts and deliver cohesive user experiences.

• Enhance backend service performance for minimal latency and maximum availability.

• Deploy observability tools for monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure the reliability of systems.

• Foster technical innovation by assessing new technologies and frameworks to boost development speed and system capabilities.

• Create scalable backend systems that support HARMAN’s music metadata and discovery platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in backend services development.

• Profound understanding of contemporary backend development tools.

• High proficiency in Node.js, Python, Go, or comparable backend programming languages.

• Extensive knowledge of API design, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development.

• Practical experience with GCP, AWS, and Azure platforms.

• Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless architectures.

• Skilled in automated CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and build systems.

• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and BigQuery.

• Familiarity with caching strategies and message queues like Kafka and RabbitMQ.

• Availability for meetings and team interactions during standard continental US business hours.

• Willingness to travel up to 5%, both domestically and internationally.

• Successful completion of a background check and drug screening as a condition of employment.
