Principal Architect – SAP Basis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with IT and internal departments to support, design, implement, and sustain SAP systems throughout MKS's global SAP framework.

• Report directly to the SAP Basis Manager.

• Work alongside colleagues in the IT organization to address complex business challenges and guide the development of high-level solution options and technical methodologies.

• Spearhead technical projects such as infrastructure upgrades, data center migrations, and disaster recovery solutions.

• Create project plans for SAP infrastructure and applications, ensuring the achievement of technical milestones set by application delivery managers.

• Assess and recommend SAP technologies and associated products.

• Diagnose and resolve critical system issues, including performance bottlenecks and stability challenges.

• Balance architectural and project responsibilities (approximately 80%) with operational support tasks (approximately 20%).

• Oversee multiple projects concurrently.

• Potentially manage offshore technical teams and third-party service providers.

• Engage in after-hours maintenance activities, system upgrades, production support events, and on-call rotations for key SAP production environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Over 8 years of experience in SAP Basis administration and architecture within complex enterprise settings.

• Comprehensive knowledge of SAP ERP, SAP APO, SAP Fiori, SAP GRC, SAP Portal, SAP BW, SAP PO, SAP SSO Server, and SAP Web Dispatcher.

• Strong proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems, along with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP HANA, and MaxDB databases supporting SAP applications.

• Demonstrated experience in executing SAP version upgrades and support package upgrades.

• Practical experience with SAP security and authentication technologies including SSO, SNC, SAML, multi-factor authentication, and load balancing.

• Familiarity with managing SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), and SAP IBP.

• Capability to operate in either an office or remote setting using standard computer equipment.

• Ability to remain seated for extended periods while engaging in technical and analytical tasks.

• May require involvement in on-call support rotations for critical SAP production environments.
