This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Spearhead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-scale Generative AI and agentic AI solutions.
• Establish target-state solution designs for foundation model integration, retrieval-augmented generation, tool utilization, orchestration frameworks, and multi-agent patterns.
• Create a reusable AI capability and pattern library intended for federated engineering teams.
• Oversee AI solution design reviews and provide technical approval within AI readiness gates.
• Set technical standards for evaluation, groundedness, guardrails, observability, security, and cost management.
• Assess AI platforms and tools, recommending directions that align with Enterprise Architecture standards.
• Design, construct, and deliver foundational shared AI capabilities, including platforms, runtimes, retrieval primitives, agent frameworks, and evaluation harnesses.
• Direct the technical delivery of prioritized flagship AI initiatives.
• Develop AI-powered assistants, copilots, workflow automation, and knowledge retrieval systems.
• Utilize AWS Bedrock, Bedrock AgentCore, MCP, and related technologies to create scalable AI applications.
• Establish and uphold engineering practices for AI evaluation, model risk management, observability, auditability, and responsible AI.
• Ensure AI solutions are instrumented for groundedness, quality, drift, and cost from the initial commit.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to both central and federated AI engineers.
• Lead the technical Community of Practice through shared libraries, office hours, code, and design reviews, as well as internal enablement.
• Collaborate with external accelerators and offer technical leadership across AI platform and application development.
• Stay updated on emerging AI technologies and recommend strategies that deliver business value.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, data science, or a related discipline.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, platform engineering, or AI/ML development.
• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in designing and delivering Generative AI, AI-Native, or LLM-based solutions in production settings.
• Proven experience in building agentic AI systems in production, including orchestration, tool invocation, retrieval frameworks, reasoning workflows, and autonomous task execution.
• A history of defining technical standards or solution patterns that have been adopted by engineering teams beyond the candidate's immediate team.
• Experience leading design reviews or acting as a technical authority across multiple teams without relying on direct reporting relationships.
• Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in Python and modern cloud-native application development.
• Practical experience with AWS and contemporary AI services such as Amazon Bedrock.
• Experience in developing and integrating APIs, enterprise platforms, and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of cloud architecture, security, governance, ADLC delivery, and operational excellence.
• Demonstrated capability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence architectural decisions across organizational boundaries.
• Preferred: Experience in Property & Casualty insurance or another highly regulated industry.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Bedrock AgentCore, MCP, vector databases, knowledge retrieval platforms, and AI evaluation frameworks.
• Preferred: Experience in establishing AI evaluation practices, including golden sets, groundedness and citation scoring, and regression testing of model-based systems.
• Preferred: Knowledge of AI observability, governance, model risk management, and responsible AI practices.
• Preferred: Experience with FinOps or cost engineering for large language model workloads.
• Preferred: Previous experience as a Principal Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, Staff Engineer, or equivalent senior individual-contributor technical leadership role.
