
Principal AI Engineer β Aerospace & Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
β’ Define and deliver the next-generation mobile experience for aviation maintenance.
β’ Design and deploy AI-driven product features, encompassing model integration, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic architectures, evaluation harnesses, and MLOps.
β’ Utilize AI-assisted development and agentic tools to enhance engineering efficiency and quality.
β’ Collaborate with Aerospace & Defense customers to deploy, integrate, and solidify solutions within their environments.
β’ Connect IFS with ERP, CRM, IoT, telemetry, legacy, and mission systems.
β’ Take ownership of solution architecture in authentic customer scenarios and under real-world constraints.
β’ Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate across the entire technology stack.
β’ Ensure quality through automated testing and manage delivery via CI/CD processes.
β’ Maintain operational reliability across cloud, edge, and mobile environments.
β’ Shape technical strategy across product groups and make critical decisions regarding architecture and product quality.
β’ Mentor engineers and enhance the broader AI and forward-deployment practice.
β’ Represent IFS with customers and partners.
β’ Base technical decisions on customer insights and business value.
β’ Proven, hands-on experience utilizing AI-assisted and agentic development tools for product creation.
β’ Experience in delivering production AI capabilities through ML integration, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic architectures, evaluation, testing, and MLOps.
β’ Demonstrated success in building and launching production mobile applications.
β’ Strong preference for native iOS development experience.
β’ Established Principal-level influence as a recognized technical authority, driving strategy and delivery across multiple teams or product groups.
β’ Extensive experience in deploying, integrating, and operating enterprise software directly within customer environments.
β’ Familiarity with integrating ERP, CRM, IoT, and legacy systems.
β’ Strong foundational knowledge in design and development, quality assurance and testing, cloud and DevOps, and security.
β’ Proficient in modern general-purpose programming languages beyond a single domain framework.
β’ Ownership mentality and excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
β’ Proven track record of enhancing the capabilities of engineers and teams.
β’ Experience with or within Aerospace & Defense organizations, or in asset, maintenance, MRO, or fleet-readiness management solutions is a plus.
β’ Familiarity with enterprise asset management, field service, or maintenance-management solutions is advantageous.
β’ Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience is desirable.
β’ Experience with agile delivery and working in globally distributed teams is favorable.
