Pre-Construction Estimator – Major Projects

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the relationship between the Major Projects Team and the network of subcontractors.

• Act as the primary procurement liaison for the designated branch office.

• Collaborate with the Major Projects Team to create precise installation cost models.

• Formulate installation cost estimates and identify and select external subcontractors.

• Manage the development of subcontractors, contracts, supplier relationships, price negotiations, and optimization of working capital.

• Enhance communication between Major Projects Procurement, branch offices, and Operations/Installation teams.

• Coordinate procurement operations and ensure adherence to BOS procedures and Delegation of Authority standards.

• Collaborate with Sales during project planning to manage subcontractor installation pricing and define subcontractor strategies.

• Evaluate project statements of work and qualify, clarify, and standardize subcontractor requirements and bids.

• Utilize estimating tools to create baseline subcontractor installation pricing for estimates potentially exceeding $10MM.

• Source quotes from third-party subcontractors.

• Review customer documentation to ensure that adequate provisions are included in JCI contracts for subcontractors.

• Develop, host, and evaluate RFPs.

• Build and sustain effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in estimating.

• Relevant experience in the electrical industry (such as Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Supervisor, Estimator, Technician, or a bachelor's degree) is mandatory.

• Experience in procurement with a focus on construction/Low Voltage Electrical and associated services.

• Competence in cost analysis and a solid understanding of financial principles.

• Familiarity with estimating software like Procore, McCormick, Archdesk, Accubid, or Bluebeam.

• Capability to perform take-offs to establish BOM and ROM for project installation needs.

• Proficient computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.

• Experience in the Low Voltage Electrical installation trade.

• Strong proficiency in English is essential.

• Willingness to travel, including up to 10% overnight travel.

• Ability to collaborate efficiently with Sales, Operations, suppliers, subcontractors, and teams.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Multilingual capabilities are preferred but not required.
