This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop, analyze, and assess electrical designs following technical requirements and system specifications.
• Review electrical systems, circuits, equipment, components, calculations, schematics, specifications, and engineering trade-offs.
• Evaluate low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems, focusing on power-system architecture, loads, feeders, and equipment needs.
• Conduct and review load flow, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and equipment-sizing calculations.
• Assess the selection and sizing of transformers, switchgear, cables, motors, and protective equipment.
• Interpret and review single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, layouts, technical drawings, submittals, and vendor documentation.
• Review protection philosophies, coordination methods, protective-device selection and settings, and fault-condition behavior.
• Evaluate electrical systems across various sectors, including industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, building services, energy, renewable energy, and energy storage.
• Analyze designs related to industrial automation, instrumentation, control systems, control panels, and motor-control systems when applicable.
• Collaborate with or review designs created using AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EPLAN, Revit, or similar platforms.
• Assess designs against IEC, IEEE, NEC, or equivalent standards and project requirements.
• Evaluate engineering work for precision, completeness, practical viability, technical soundness, and safety.
• Identify technical deficiencies, errors, inconsistencies, integration risks, reliability/capacity/protection concerns, and opportunities for design enhancement.
• Provide clear and structured technical feedback while elucidating substantive technical issues.
• Practical professional experience as an Electrical Engineer, Power Systems Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer, Electrical Systems Engineer, or a similar role.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong grasp of electrical system design, power systems, and engineering principles.
• Practical experience in the design or evaluation of electrical systems in industrial settings, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, renewable energy, building services, or energy storage.
• Familiarity with low- and medium-voltage systems, electrical protection, equipment sizing, and power distribution.
• Capability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Experience with power-system studies, such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, or protection coordination, is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EPLAN, Revit, or equivalent engineering software is advantageous.
• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NEC, or similar electrical codes and standards is beneficial.
• An advanced degree or professional engineering certification is a plus.
• Must perform work without utilizing confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, institution, or third party.
• H1-B and STEM OPT support is not available for this position.
