Senior Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership throughout the development and pre-construction phases of utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects across the United States.

• Act as the main technical resource for assigned projects, guiding them from initial development to construction readiness.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects progress on time and within defined scope.

• Conduct project-level technical due diligence, design optimization, development engineering, pre-construction assistance, and risk assessments.

• Create and enhance PV/BESS layouts for energy harvesting, construction feasibility, cost efficiency, permitting constraints, and long-term operational performance.

• Execute energy modeling studies utilizing tools such as PVsyst.

• Assist and oversee technical elements of permitting, interconnection, communications, environmental considerations, topographical assessments, and geotechnical processes.

• Supervise EPC drawing design reviews in the capacity of Owner.

• Maintain well-organized and clearly documented project-specific technical deliverables.

• Collaborate with independent engineers to ensure precise reporting and safeguard development and long-term ownership interests.

• Offer construction RFI support in the role of owner’s engineer.

• Conduct site visits and inspections.

• Source and manage external consultants and partners, including defining scopes of work, issuing RFPs, and overseeing scope and schedule.

• Take ownership of electrical deliverables from development through pre-construction phases.

• Lead the design of PV and BESS systems, encompassing layouts, DC/AC sizing, and configuration.

• Enhance energy yield, cost-effectiveness, and constructability.

• Manage production modeling and align assumptions with financial models.

• Define the Owner’s requirements for EPC contracts and mitigate redesign risks post-NTP.

• Manage consultants and coordinate with permitting, interconnection, environmental, and independent engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

• Over 3 years of experience in utility-scale PV/BESS system design and engineering.

• Minimum of 5 years total engineering experience in renewable energy or construction.

• Familiarity with construction practices related to utility-scale PV/BESS.

• Capability to approach engineering and technical issues from a commercial perspective.

• Willingness to travel approximately 15% of the time.

• Experience in engaging with investors, EPC partners, developers, and O&M partners.

• Strong comprehension of energy modeling and solar resource assessments.

• Background in collaboration with third-party Independent Engineering firms.

• Ability to identify cost or schedule drivers and optimize budget and completion timelines.

• Over 5 years of experience in PV/BESS project engineering.

• Robust foundation in system design, layout, and energy modeling.

• Experience working alongside EPCs, developers, and independent engineers.

• Strong commercial mindset with awareness of cost implications.

• Eagerness and motivation to gain an in-depth understanding of renewable energy fundamentals.
