This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Delivers engineering analysis and technical support to guarantee the dependable interconnection of new generators to the company system, adhering to NERC Standards, company Protocols, Planning Guide, and Market Guides.
• Offers electrical engineering analysis and technical assistance for the integration of new generation resources and the future planning of the electric power system.
• Executes suitable system modeling, creates tools and procedures for conducting system studies, evaluates simulated or actual operational results, formulates solutions for current or future system challenges, and accurately reports findings and recommendations.
• Assesses the outcomes of simulated power system studies and may contrast them with actual operational data to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Conducts Powerflow studies as necessary to evaluate the feasibility of proposed generation interconnections.
• Reviews interconnection applications to verify compliance with company Planning Guides, Protocols, and technical requirements before granting approval.
• Identifies opportunities for process enhancements in interconnection study workflows, data management, and stakeholder engagement.
• Effectively communicates requirements and results to all internal and external stakeholders involved in the interconnection process.
• Monitors project milestones from study request through to commercial operation, ensuring alignment with interconnection queue procedures.
• For entry level - Less than one year of experience in the electric utility industry.
• For level 2 – 2 years of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility sector.
• Some experience in the electric utility industry.
• Proficiency in conducting power system load flow studies using PSSE.
• Familiarity with transfer analysis systems studies.
• Capability to clearly communicate requirements and other technical information.
• Skill in writing technical reports based on comprehensive analysis conducted.
• Experience with Python, VBA, or another programming language.
• Proficient in creating queries in Access, Oracle, or SQL.
• Experience utilizing TARA.
