This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist with research and development projects pertaining to grid modeling and stability analysis.
• Conduct analyses of power systems featuring elevated levels of inverter-based renewable resources.
• Execute dynamic simulations utilizing PSSE and PSLF software.
• Collaborate with individual device models, which include inverter-based resources and significant loads.
• Perform electromagnetic transient simulations using PSCAD.
• Evaluate the controls of inverter-based resources and their effects on the power system.
• At least 2 years of PhD studies in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power systems.
• Knowledge of procedures for conducting dynamic simulations in PSSE and PSLF.
• Familiarity with individual device models, including inverter-based resources (IBRs) and large loads.
• Experience with PSCAD simulation software.
• Understanding of inverter-based resource control mechanisms and the power system implications of different control architectures.
• Extensive experience in control system theory and analysis.
• Familiarity with modeling and simulating wind/solar inverters is advantageous.
• Significant experience with electromagnetic transient simulation tools, particularly PSCAD.
• Strong background in electromechanical dynamics simulation tools, especially PSS/E and PSLF.
• Proficient programming skills, preferably in Python and Matlab.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation abilities.
• Availability to work at least during the 2026 Fall semester (August–December).
