This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Assist faculty members in managing the financial aspects and compliance of externally funded awards.
• Act as a liaison and proactive collaborator between faculty and university offices regarding award management.
• Provide essential and comprehensive information to principal investigators, department/program personnel, and central support teams.
• Facilitate the financial management of awards and oversee award close-out processes.
• Support researchers within the designated cluster across Main Campus and the Medical Center.
• Review and reconcile expenses to ensure they meet standards of allowability, allocability, reasonableness, necessity, documentation, and budget compliance.
• Verify the accuracy of salary distributions and related fringe benefits.
• Assess key personnel commitments and communicate significant variances to the Office of Research Services (ORS).
• Examine calculations related to indirect cost recovery.
• Process corrections and adjustments promptly, ensuring all necessary approvals and documentation are in place.
• Complete Financial Status Report worksheets accurately and on time.
• Review and manage payments to subrecipients.
• Collaborate with cluster staff, JORA Post-Award Grant Administrators, and other departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience in grants management within a university or nonprofit environment.
• Familiarity with sponsored research funding sources, including federal, non-federal government, international, industry, foundation, private, and nonprofit funding.
• In-depth knowledge of federal funding regulations, specifically 2 CFR 200 and FAR.
• Strong proficiency with financial systems, accounting principles, and cost accounting standards relevant to grants and contracts management.
• Experience with budgeting in Excel.
• Proven financial accounting skills for account reconciliation and support for financial and programmatic reporting.
• High proficiency in Excel.
• Competence in using Excel, Adobe Professional, and DocuSign.
• Ability to adapt to policy changes with flexibility.
• Capability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational abilities.
