This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +31 more states.
• Draft, assess, and negotiate contracts while overseeing the contract process in accordance with university policy.
• Independently handle a designated queue of contract requests and act as the main point of contact for internal departments.
• Conduct technical reviews of low- to moderate-risk contracts to ensure compliance with university standards.
• Manage the contract review process in collaboration with department representatives.
• Lead negotiations of contracts with suppliers.
• Coordinate with General Counsel, Information Technology Solutions, Information Security, Marketing, Human Resources, and other university departments.
• Negotiate terms to reduce risk and safeguard university assets; escalate contracts for further review when necessary.
• Update departments on contract status and progress.
• Provide summaries of risks and exposures for authorized signatories.
• Confirm bidding requirements and conduct due diligence on new suppliers.
• Maintain contract data, documentation, metadata, dashboards, and reports.
• Review and process contract-related purchase requisitions, ensuring documentation and approvals are verified.
• Oversee the contracts lifecycle management solution, including application security and data standards.
• Assist with technology enhancements, functionality testing, and integrated Workday ERP processes.
• Utilize approved AI and technology tools for contract review, research, summarization, reporting, and process enhancement.
• Develop and present tailored training sessions for individuals and groups on the contract management system and contracting processes.
• Act as a resource for the university community regarding contracting procedures.
• Foster stakeholder relationships and contribute to ongoing process improvement and innovation.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of contract law and contracting authority.
• Experience collaborating with counsel.
• Familiarity with accounting, finance, and marketing as they pertain to procurement.
• Capability to elucidate value concepts such as total cost of ownership.
• Experience in optimizing contract processes and establishing a contract management program.
• Proficient negotiator.
• Prior experience with contract software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong technology skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Self-driven and capable of managing time and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Customer-centric with the ability to build relationships based on trust and respect.
