This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Carry out blood draws with precision and care, prioritizing patient comfort and accuracy.
• Acquire, label, and preserve specimens according to established protocols.
• Perform specimen handling duties, including centrifugation, freezing, and preparation for transport.
• Confirm all test requisitions against computer-generated labels to ensure accuracy.
• Clearly explain procedures to patients with courtesy, assisting them with specimen collections (blood, urine, fecal).
• Uphold a clean and safe working environment by conducting decontamination and documenting maintenance activities.
• Adhere to all OSHA and DEP safety regulations and protocols.
• Update and manage patient information meticulously.
• Support troubleshooting, training, and suggest enhancements to workflow processes.
• Respond to patient inquiries over the phone and provide laboratory results as necessary.
• Participate in mandatory department training sessions to remain current with best practices.
• High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
• Phlebotomy certification (as required by state regulations).
• A minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience in a high-activity lab or hospital environment.
• Proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proven expertise in venipuncture techniques with both straight and butterfly needles.
