This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.
• Process and submit new prescription and medication renewal requests, including controlled substances, adhering to approved VA protocols.
• Respond to telephone inquiries from Veterans, physicians, and healthcare professionals regarding prescriptions and medication-related questions.
• Review prescription profiles and provide updates on medication status within the technician's scope of practice.
• Document interactions with patients and staff in CPRS and other VA systems.
• Address inquiries concerning expired, discontinued, deleted, or unavailable medications.
• Escalate clinical matters to pharmacists as necessary.
• Verify patient identity before discussing any protected health information.
• Manage incoming calls while achieving national productivity and quality standards.
• Deliver professional customer service to Veterans, staff, and external clients.
• Operate telephone systems, including transferring calls and placing callers on hold.
• Adhere to Pharmacy Contact Center scripts and workflows.
• Aim to resolve Veteran concerns at the first point of contact whenever feasible.
• Seek assistance from team leads, pharmacists, or supervisors for unusual or complex issues.
• Maintain access to and compliance with VA electronic health record systems and security protocols.
• Keep national pharmacy technician certification active throughout employment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an Academic Pharmacy Technician Training Program is necessary.
• Must possess an active national certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or Certified Pharmacy Technician (ExCPT) through NHA.
• All certifications must remain current and valid.
• A minimum of 1 year of retail pharmacy experience is required.
• Must reside within 50 miles of 3601 S 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85723.
• Availability to work shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM Pacific Time is essential.
• Must have continuously lived in the United States for the three years prior to appointment at a federal facility.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during shifts.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Ability to carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
• Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
• Employment on a full-time basis.
