Permitting Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, prepare documentation, and secure municipal and agency permits for proposed installations of cable and fiber optic networks.

• Compile permit application packages for local governments, jurisdictions, and regulatory agencies.

• Establish and sustain relationships with municipalities and governing bodies to secure necessary permitting and zoning approvals.

• Address and resolve permitting challenges to ensure project timelines are met.

• Collaborate with project teams to collect information and determine permitting requirements.

• Create strategies for anticipated challenges.

• Keep project teams informed about government and municipal regulations and requirements throughout the approval and construction phases.

• Act as a subject matter expert on local municipal and state codes.

• Manage and monitor permit applications and compliance throughout the approval and construction phases.

• Supervise document control and ensure compliance with customer requirements.

• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in permitting within Telecommunications, Outside Plant, or Field Operations.

• Prior experience in submitting permit packages for Telecom, Power, Gas, Construction, and/or other utility projects.

• Knowledge of outside plant design principles, work order procedures, and telecommunication standards.

• Familiarity with local authority regulations and requirements.

• Preference for knowledge of DOT/Federal/County regulations.

• Strong proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and scheduling software.

• Familiarity with Quick Base is preferred.

• Excellent communication skills, with confidence in interacting with key contacts verbally, in writing, and electronically.

• Ability to respond effectively to project stakeholder requests and understand client needs in standard situations.

• Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
