This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +10 more states.
• Act as the primary resource for customers regarding permit status, timelines, and requirements.
• Offer training, coaching, feedback, and guidance to junior team members.
• Conduct team one-on-ones and supervise the work of junior members.
• Manage the complete lifecycle of permit applications.
• Investigate requirements, prepare forms, collect documentation, and submit applications to the appropriate authorities.
• Generate comprehensive permit progress reports and deliver regular updates to customers and stakeholders.
• Recognize opportunities for process improvements and apply best practices to enhance workflows and minimize bottlenecks.
• Ensure that permit applications are thorough, accurate, and adhere to jurisdictional standards.
• Actively monitor permit statuses and liaise with authorities to accelerate approval processes.
• 3–5+ years of pertinent experience in construction permitting, project management, or a comparable position.
• Practical knowledge of the permitting landscape throughout the Midwest.
• Strong familiarity with permitting processes in Minnesota, Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
• General knowledge of permitting practices in other Midwest states.
• Established connections with municipalities and inspectors in the relevant states.
• Comfortable serving as a regional escalation point for local jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to identify and resolve restrictions faced by third-party permit expediters.
• Exceptional skills in project management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Leadership experience preferred: at least 2 years of leading, managing, and mentoring teams.
• Must reside and work in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, or South Dakota.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
