Performance/Resilience Test Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Develop, manage, and implement non-functional testing plans, strategies, estimations, and scenarios for intricate software solutions.

• Design, create, and uphold performance and resilience testing scripts using JMeter, Gatling, and other relevant testing tools.

• Organize, prepare, execute, and evaluate performance, load, stress, endurance, capacity, resilience, and recovery testing tasks.

• Formulate comprehensive non-functional testing strategies for distributed, integrated, and microservices-oriented cloud environments.

• Set up test environments, workloads, and test data necessary for performance and resilience testing initiatives.

• Oversee system resources, application behavior, and platform metrics during testing to pinpoint performance bottlenecks and stability challenges.

• Assess test results, probe non-functional defects, and offer recommendations to enhance performance, reliability, scalability, and resilience.

• Carry out resilience and chaos engineering scenarios utilizing ChaosToolkit, Kraken, or comparable technologies.

• Provide technical support and empower QA engineers and developers to carry out non-functional testing tasks.

• Establish and maintain standards, best practices, documentation, and reporting mechanisms related to performance and resilience testing.

• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and operations teams to promote continuous quality enhancement initiatives.

• Generate test reports, technical documentation, and findings presentations for stakeholders, management, and clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 6 years of relevant IT professional experience, including a minimum of 6 years in non-functional, performance, resilience, or load testing roles.

• Required educational background: Level 6 (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) in a field relevant to ICT.

• Strong practical experience with JMeter, Gatling, or other similar performance testing tools.

• Proficiency in test planning, strategy formulation, estimation, workload design, test case creation, test platform configuration, test data preparation, and defect management.

• Experience in designing and conducting performance, load, stress, endurance, capacity, resilience, and recovery testing activities.

• Familiarity with analyzing application performance, resource usage, and system bottlenecks in complex distributed environments.

• Practical experience with resilience and chaos testing tools such as ChaosToolkit, Kraken, or similar solutions.

• Background in Java development or automation.

• Experience with microservices architectures, containerized platforms, and private cloud environments.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, monitoring solutions, and observability platforms.

• Outstanding documentation, reporting, communication, and stakeholder presentation skills.

• Experience in Agile software development and testing environments.

• Experience collaborating in international and multicultural teams.

• Testing large-scale distributed systems with multiple integrated components is regarded as a significant asset.

• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, Podman, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK Stack, Splunk, Kafka, GitHub CI/CD, Selenium, Playwright, Postman, Kreya, Tricentis qTest, Jira Xray, PostgreSQL, or equivalent technologies is considered a strong advantage.
